Digital Storytelling Week 3

VoiceThread scared me at first but is truly exciting to work with. I cannot wait to use it in my classroom next year as it holds such great potential. I'd like to get my 7th grade, red house teammates (colleagues) on board to create a beginning of year presentation in VoiceThread to play at Open House (for the school year). Putting our four voices together to create an informational VoiceThread for parents and students would be very powerful.

The idea of creating an Animoto video to provide my students with an introduction to my classes and me (at year's beginning) is a great idea. I'm anxious to get my video "perfected." I also think Animoto videos hold great potential as background builders/anticipatory sets in the classroom. Equally exciting, I loved the Animoto videos that were created based upon "The Red Wheelbarrow." That particular activity would be very applicable in our poetry unit; I cannot wait to try it with my students!

I most like that what we're doing in class is forcing me to rethink and replan lessons for my classroom. VoiceThread, Animoto, the ideas from Digi Tales, and PresentationZen have reinforced the importance of providing images to support learning and present the BIG picture to students. The ease of VoiceThread and Animoto make the idea of making my lessons more visual un-scary!
